Rebecca's Reel Quilters of Poricy Park presents "Color My World" Quilt Show on Friday, May 18, 2012 and Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 10am to 4pm at Poricy Park, 345 Oak Hill Road, Middletown, NJ. Admission is $5.00 with children under 8 free. There will be vendors, refreshments, and a raffle quilt. May 18 and 19, 2012

PIECED -  Individual - Must be at least 50% pieced       

Small: perimeter totals  less than 160 inches

Medium: perimeter totals 160 to 260 inches

Large: perimeter is greater than 260 inches

APPLIQUE - Individual - Hand or machine appliqued. Must be at least 50% appliqued. Any size

ART/EMBELLISHED - Individual - A picture - People, nature, landscapes, still-lifes, etc.     AND/OR   Quilts which draw major impact from embellishments such as beads. buttons, paints, etc. Any size

INNOVATIVE - Original design with emphasis on color, form and composition. significantly deviates from traditional/published patterns and sets. Any size

MISCELLANEOUS - Individual - Wearables, pillows, totes, etc. There must be quilting on the item.

DUETS - Two people - Any quilt which was worked on by two people (including the quilting).

Small: perimeter measures < 300 inches

Large: perimeter measure 300 inches or more 

GROUPS - Three or more people - Any quilt which was worked on by three or more people. Any size

All items may be hand or machine quilted.

Other Awards:

Best of Show          Best Hand Workmanship           Judge's Recognition (2)

Best Use of Color       Best Machine Workmanship      Viewer's Choice (4)

Ribbon Awards:

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 1 honorable mention

Judging and Critiquing fee: $7 per item

Note:

A ribbon will not be awarded if the quilts in that category do nor warrant a ribbon.

If a quilt is entered in the wrong category, the quilt will be critiqued in the entered category, but will not receive a ribbon.

Rules for Entering Quilts

We are hoping every member of the Guild will enter two or more quilts for the upcoming show. For those who are new to the guild, and those who need a refresher, here are the general rules for submitting quilts:

• You must be a current member of Rebecca’s Reel Quilters, which is accomplished by joining Poricy Park and indicating your RRQ interest.
• If you enter a quilt, you must volunteer a block of time working on the show.
• You may enter quilts that have nothing to do with the name or theme of the show.
• Judged quilts are made by the entrants – no bought, inherited, or won/gifted quilts.
• Family heirloom quilts are welcome for display only, space permitting.
• All those involved in the quilt – pattern design, top and quilting, binding -  are to be acknowledged on the storycard.
• Everyone who comes to the show must pay to attend.
• Quilts must be free of pet hair and not smell of cigarettes, mold or other allergenic substances.
• You may enter quilts to be judged or not judged.
• If your quilt does not fit the judging category in which it is entered, it will still be judged but will not be eligible for a ribbon.
• If your quilt fits in multiple categories, you must select the category in which you want it judged.
• Each quilt is an artistic expression and is valuable. Display decisions are based on multiple factors, the primary one being space/size.
