Community Service Workshops

Community service has been an integral part of Rebecca's Reel Quilt Guild throughout the years.  Our members believe that two of the main goals of our organization are to work together and give back to the community.  We have accomplished this through quilts that bring joy, happiness and comfort to those who sew the pieces together and those who receive a beautiful quilt.   We also make whimsical pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer which distributes them to hospitals treating children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Many thanks to Lorraine Cahalane, Francine Yamello and May Sisk, for their tireless work as Coordinators of our Community Service Workshops.  Thank you to everyone in the guild who created the quilts and pillowcases.  Please know that they are now being loved by those that received them and giving them lots of comfort and warmth.

Community Service Quilts

Pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer

All you need to make the pillowcases are two coordinating cotton fabrics, one for the case and one for the band.  We collect fabric donations, cut the pillowcases and meet about once a month to sew them.  Pillowcases are made according to the directions and sizes provided by the hospitals.  For additional information please contact rrqprojectpillowcase@hotmail.com.

Since 2007 our hearts and hands were wide open as we donated 125 quilts to various community groups.  In 2010, 2002 pillowcases were given to ConKerr Cancer. We also donate pillowcases to the K. Hovanian Children's Hospital located at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey.
